The 'Local' Race - The Kiplingcotes Derby
The 485th Race, 18th March 2004
The Results

Robert Howarth - Winner 2004
This year's gruelling race was contested by 12 riders and horses over the traditional course of 4 miles.   A large crowd of spectators gathered at the finishing post on a damp, cold overcast day to witness the hard fought race, which was completed successfully by all 12 entrants.
The race was a carbon copy of last year; Robert Howarth was the winner on his mount Bob for the second year in succession with veteran Ken Holmes, the holder of ten record wins, being beaten into second place on Royal Citizen, and David Parsons on Be Brave finishing third.
