The historic town of Beverley, described as one of the most gracious market towns, is about 10 miles away, and should not be missed. The many attractions include the famous Beverley Minster dating from 1220, the medieval North Bar gateway, the Market Cross, cobbled streets and bustling markets, and much, much more.

For those who like horse racing the sport of kings can be found at both York and Beverley, but for something different why not take in the experience of The Kiplingcotes Derby, the oldest flat race in England |
Situated some 8 miles to the north west, approached along the A1079 road, is the market town of Pocklington , which is well worth a visit. The link will take you to a very definitive website which will tell you all you need to know about the town.
Whilst in the area why not picnic at the Pocklington Canal by visiting Canal Head, just 7 miles along the A1079 towards York.

You could of course leave the car at home, or at one of the local car parks, and see the beautiful Wolds countryside on foot by following the The Hudson Way or the The Yorkshire Wolds Way, or walk to Goodmanham (Goodmundin Gaham in AD 731) a small village about 2 miles to the north-east of Market Weighton, and dating back to Stone Age times. |
For those who would rather use the local bus
services to visit the area, information on public
transport throughout Hull and the East Riding can be found
