Travellers Return To Becklands Park

Travellers have again encamped on Becklands Park Industrial Estate, York Road.  Four caravans, one horse box with horse, and numerous vehicles arrived on Saturday 26th January.  They left the site on Saturday 2nd February, leaving behind the usual disgusting mess of litter, including unwanted kitchen waste, building materials, an empty propane cylinder and engine oil.

This follows the previous visit by travellers in July 2001, when over 40 vans were packed on the site, which belongs to both Yorkshire Forward and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

No doubt the residents of the town will yet again contribute via the community charge, to the cost of cleaning up the mess.

It is unfortunate that local authorities seem powerless in preventing travellers from spoiling our environment.
