Market Weighton Area Regeneration Partnership hold open weekend.
The Weighton Area Regeneration Partnership (WARP), together with Scott Wilson Kirkpartick & Co. (the consultants hired by WARP), held an open weekend in the Methodist Church Hall on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th January.
The purpose of the open days was to show to local residents some of the ideas and issues that have been discussed with local groups.
Many issues were presented via textual and graphic displays,
and showed the depth into which the participating groups had gone in such a
short time.
Some of the key issues identified were;
A community drop-in centre.
Environmental improvements to the town centre.
A perceived imbalance between new housing developments and facilities
for residents.
Concern over the lack of cooperation between different agencies
working within the town.
Five focus groups have also been established, and will be reporting
back on the following issues;
Peoples Needs
Youth
Business Trade and the Economy
Tourism, Heritage and the Environment
Miscellaneous (Improving the Town Centre)
The Weighton Area Regeneration Partnership have appointed Dan Offord as project manager.
