No Increase in Local Community Charge

Market Weighton town council have decided not to increase the local element of the community charge for the year 2002/2003.  This is good news for local residents who saw a slight increase in the previous financial year.

Residents in band A properties will be charged £35.67
Residents in band D properties will be charged £53.50
Residents in band G properties will be charged £107.00

The total amount that will be collected by the council will be £98,362 ------- It is hoped that local residents will see some tangible benefit as a result.

We all now wait in anticipation to see what the major charge from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be !
