Pock FM to be on-air again in October, and covering Market Weighton Area
Pock FM the ONLY local community radio station for this area is coming back, bigger and better than last time. Pocklington had a 28 day RSL back in February and are now coming back for another 28 days in October, this time covering the whole of Market Weighton and surrounding areas too.
Pock FM was started back in 2001, when a few young people who attended a DJ workshop stated that they wanted to have a radio station, so then the fund raising started and a few grants were obtained from different people, a 28 day RSL license was obtained, all the equipment bought and other bits borrowed from different places. The first 28 day broadcast on 87.7 FM then took place in February of 2002.
Broadcasting can only take place for 28 days at a time and only twice each year. Pock FM should be back on air from 1st to the 28th of October this year.
Plans are afoot to have a full community licence, Pock FM have spoken to the radio authority and they have agreed that it was such a success last time that Pock FM would be first in line for the full licence in this area. The local station could cover events in Market Weighton such as Giant Bradley Day where an entire day could be devoted to this, and other outside broadcasts.
