Market Weighton to have its own Radio Station
Following the success of rival town Pocklington's radio station, Market Weighton could also be on the air by May 2003.
Market Weighton could soon have its own radio
station, featuring local news, sport and music. The proposal to
set up Vixen 87 FM is being championed by an eight strong
"radio committee" chaired by Paul Stellings who has
many years experience of hospital radio. A welcome boost to the
fund raising necessary to launch the venture has been a
£5000 donation from Comic Relief, which will be added to
other donations from the Market Weighton Golden Jubilee Committee
and Market Weighton Town Council.
The plan is to be on-air by May 2003, however more funds and
sponsors are sought - anyone who would like to contribute or be
involved with the project should contact Geoff Hall on 07970
851135.
Another wonderful initiative to promote the town, lets hope that it is a successful venture. Whilst we may wish Pocklington all success with their radio station, here is an opportunity to beat them at their own game !
