No Increase in Local Community Charge

Market Weighton town council have decided not to increase the local element of the community charge for the second year in succession, so the charge for the year 2003/2004 will be as it was for 2002/2003.

 Typical charges for the year will be:-.

Residents in band A properties will be charged £35.67
Residents in band D properties will be charged £53.50
Residents in band G properties will be charged £107.00

The local precept will be £104,360, an increase of almost £6000 over the previous year; a reflection of the increase in properties within the town and prudent housekeeping within the Council.

Residents now wait in anticipation to see what the major charge from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be !
