Giant Trail in Market Weighton
Ambitious Civic Trust plan to create a Giant Bradley heritage trail in the town in a bid to improve tourism in the town.
Market Weighton Civic Trust have proposed an exciting idea to boost tourism in the town, based on William Bradley the local celebrity who was born in the town in 1787 and is on record as being the tallest man to have lived in the UK, at 7ft 9in.
The plan is to create a trail of granite footprints around the town, to the exact size of Giant Bradley's shoe size, a staggering 15 inches. The trail would follow a route through the town to include places of interest such as his birth place in York Road, his burial site in the local churchyard, the Londesborough Arms, the Duck Pond etc.
The Civic Trust are well ahead with their plans and are seeking funding to support the project, which hopefully will become a reality in the Summer of 2003.
