"Heart of East Yorkshire"
Gets big picture presentation on town's Regeneration
Residents in Market Weighton will be given the chance to witness all the recent activity that the town's regeneration body, Weighton Area Regeneration Partnership (WARP), has been up to over the past year at an open evening on Thursday 3rd July at 7pm at the Methodist Church Hall.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for
Market Weighton's residents to get to the detail of all our
work which sits behind the headlines of the regions press."
Said Chairman of WARP, Cllr. Andy Burton.
"With the town being funded through the Yorkshire Forward
"Market Towns Initiative" program from a year last
April expectations of residents of Market Weighton have been
raised regarding how their town was going to be improved. It is
our task on Thursday to explain what projects have come forward
in Year One, and what we have in the pipeline for Year Two."
Cllr. Burton continued.
The town has seen a substantial increase in community-based regeneration through WARP. Projects such as a Market Square Scheme, a visitor strategy, a small grants scheme and the launch of the "Market Weighton, heart of east Yorkshire Brand" have all been developed locally by WARP and its local army of volunteers.
"While we have been incredibly busy over the last year, many of the projects have not been particularly visual in their appearance" said Peter Hemmerman, Vice Chair of WARP and Chair of the Chamber of Trade. "People might well ask the question, "what have you been doing?" However, with the substantial Heritage Economic Regeneration Scheme (HERS) now on line, as well as the development of the Market Site Car Park, WARP and its key partners, such as the Town Council and Chamber of Trade, with have something visual to show their success between now and this time next year." He added.
"The evening illustrates WARP’s on going commitment to involving and consulting with residents on its main activities" said Dan Offord, Project Manager. "WARP aims to be representative and responsive to residents and businesses needs for the town. This is the town’s chance to tell us what they think of the process so far."
Other partners due to be at the open evening include East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Bishop Burton College, Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council and Market Weighton’s Chamber of Trade, Town Council and Civic Society.
