Giant Trail in Market Weighton
A Step Closer
The Civic Trust's ambitious plan to create a Giant Bradley heritage trail in the town has move a step closer now that their application for funding has been approved in full. If all goes according to plan the trail will be a reality by spring 2004.
Giant William Bradley the local celebrity was born in the town in 1787 and is on record as being the tallest man to have lived in the UK, at 7ft 9in. The plan is to create a trail of granite footprints around the town, to the exact size of Giant Bradley's shoe size, a staggering 15 inches. The trail would follow a route through the town to include places of interest such as his birth place in York Road, his burial site in the local churchyard, the Londesborough Arms, the Duck Pond etc.
