Broadband Internet in Market Weighton
A campaign is now under way to get Broadband Internet enabled in Market Weighton and the immediate surroundings. Local residents are urged to register their interest at www.getonandgetit.co.uk/marketweighton/home.htm.
To quote BT "Broadband is the common term
for a high bandwidth internet connection – one that can
send or download information many times faster than with a
standard telephone and modem. You can do everything you want to
do online more quickly and more easily with broadband."
Currently Broadband is not available in the town, BT have a
local exchange which is not currently enabled for the service,
and the alternative supplier Kingston Communications have no
plans to extend their service into the town. Positive action is
required by all those residents who would like to have a
broadband service and unless we tell BT that we are interested
nothing will happen. So, what can we do ? Local computer shop
owner, Eric Bailey, has initiated the "Broadband for Market
Weighton Campaign" to encourage business and home users to
register with BT.
BT have set a trigger level of 500, this may sound a lot but it should be achievable.
At 22nd February 2004 there were 258 registrations - So register now online
at www.getonandgetit.co.uk/marketweighton/home.htm
