Local Producers Market to launch in April

A local producers' market is set to launch in the town in April and will be held on the third Saturday of every month.  The market was first mooted two years ago when residents were asked for their ideas for putting the town on the map, and has been taken forward by the Weighton Area Regeneration Partnership (WARP) as part of the town's regeneration project.  The market will be held on the town's car park, currently the location of the weekly 'Friday' market, which will continue to be a regular feature.  The car park, which has been in a sorry state for several years, is to be completely resurfaced and work starts on Monday 8th March and will last for 3 weeks. Funding for the project has been obtained from Yorkshire Forward through the Market Towns Initiative and LEADER +.

Much interest has been expressed by potential stall holders and wide range of goods, including food, arts, crafts etc., will be available.

For more information contact the market manager, Mr Richard Sheperd tel. 01262 671323

This is great news for the town, and is one of the many regeneration projects that should become evident during 2004.
