Robert Howarth wins 485th Kiplingcotes Derby
A carbon copy of last year's race.
For the second year in succession Robert Howarth has won the Kiplingcotes Derby on his mount, Bob. The gruelling race held today, 18th March 2004, was contested by 12 riders and horses over the traditional course of 4 miles. A large crowd of spectators gathered at the finishing post on a rather damp overcast day to witness the hard fought race, which was completed successfully by all 12 entrants.

This year's race was a carbon copy of last year, for the second year in succession veteran Ken Holmes, the holder of ten record wins, was beaten into second place on Royal Citizen, and David Parsons on Be Brave finished third.
