Market Weighton's First Local Producers Market a Resounding Success

Market Weighton's first Local Producers Market got off to a resounding success on Saturday 24th April, on what could be the hottest day so far this year.  Large crowds flocked to the newly resurfaced market site to visit the large number of stalls offering a wide range of goods displayed on the brightly coloured stalls.  In addition to the produce stalls entertainment was provided by Morris Dancers, and a Clown who delighted local children with with his expertly created balloon animals. For those needing a hearty snack the odours coming from the pig roast were a great temptation !

After many months of planning this new venture will boost the town's economy and hopefully bring many visitors to the town in search of local high quality produce, and put Market Weighton well and truly on the tourist map.

Lord Haskins of Skidby, the Government's Rural Recovery Coordinator, opens the market.
