Fire Engine Pull for Charity
Local Firefighters haul their Fire Engines through the town to raise money for Tsunami Appeal Fund
To coincide with the monthly Local Producers' Market on 19 February 2005, firefighters from the local Market Weighton brigade organised two 'Fire Engine Pulls' through the High Street in support of the Tsunami Appeal Fund. On a bitterly cold sunny morning the 'volunteers' assembled outside Nettos store at 9 o'clock, harnessed themselves to one of their two fire engines and hauled it through the town, finishing at the market site. Not satisfied with their efforts they did it all over again at 11 o'clock.
A good crowd assembled to see both events, and hopefully a large sum was collected for the appeal.
Special thanks must go to members of the local brigade, lead by Watch Manager John Speak, to Market Weighton Area Business Limited for their support for the initiative, and to all those who made donations on the day.
