Heritage Open Day

The Weighton Area Heritage Group presents a Heritage Open Day on Saturday 9 September and invites you to join in and celebrate our local heritage. Eight historic or culturally significant buildings will be open to the public, with activities for all including tours, guided walks, fascinating displays, activities and competitions for children and its all FREE !!!

The Group is a Sub-Committee of Market Weighton Town Council and includes nearby Parish Councils, Church Wardens and helpers, local Clergy, Market Weighton Civic Trust, and other volunteers. The Chairman of the Group, Mrs. Sarah Moody, Town Clerk of Market Weighton Town Council says: “The Group have worked in partnership to present what we hope will be a very special, interesting day for both the local community and visitors to Market Weighton and the nearby villages. We have worked hard to come up with some innovative ideas in a really short space of time and hope to make the Heritage Open Day an annual event which develops and flourishes more each year.’’

'HOD' The Heritage Open Day Mascot

Special Activities For Children This is ‘HOD’ our mascot and he can be found at each venue but children will need to hunt high and low for him and they can colour him in too and could win a prize. Also older children can enter the quiz at each site to win a small prize and if you enter in for all the quizzes at each venue you may win the overall prize.
