Planning consent approved for new Tesco Store
East Riding Council give go-ahead for Tesco to develop a Supermarket, petrol station and six shops on former Europower site.
At last the go-ahead was given on 11 October 2006 to build a Tesco Supermarket in Market Weighton. The long awaited decision means that the supermarket, along with a petrol station, six retail outlets and parking for 201 cars, will be a reality. The development will bring around 150 full and part-time jobs to the town, and hopefully bring more shoppers into the area.
At the present time it is not known when work will start on the site, or when the supermarket will be opened. The first stage will involve the demolition of the old Europower buildings and clearance of the site - this might be expected to start soon.
The Europower site, to be developed by Tesco.
