Planning application submitted to convert the former chapel on York Road

The weighton Area Regeneration Partnership Ltd (WARP) have submitted plans to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to convert the old chapel on York Road into a new community centre for the town.   The plans for a new centre have been in the pipeline for some two years, and will fill provide well needed meeting space for local community groups.  If the plans are approved the building will provide a large meeting room and learning zone, office space for hire, and act as a drop-in centre for residents of all ages.

The old chapel, last used as an outdoor shop, was acquired by WARP for £186,000 and if all goes well work on the conversion could start early in 2007.
