Marion Frith elected as Town Mayor

Cllr Marion Frith was elected as Mayor for Market Weighton by the newly elected Town Council, on 9th May 2007.  Cllr Martha Hanson was elected as Deputy Mayor.

Marion Frith's election brings to an end the long running period of office held by Cllr Stephen King, who in total has served as mayor for seventeen years.  Cllr King did not stand for re-election this year.

With the election of a number of new councillors, and a change in leadership it will be interesting to see how the new council deal with local issues.
