New Tesco Supermarket opens in Market Weighton

More than 200 jobs were created when Tesco opened their new supermarket in Market Weighton on Monday 16th July 2007. The 25,000 sq.ft. shop include 200 car parking spaces and a petrol station.

The store which was built on the site formerly occupied by Europower Hydraulics, was erected in only seven months dating from the time when the Europower factory was demolished.

The store has been welcomed by the majority of residents in the town who previously had to travel out of town to supermarkets in Hull, Beverley or York.  Hopefully the opening of the store will bring more shoppers into the town.
